The 604FixLeak Process: How We Find, Fix, and Remediate Your Leaks

We are in the business of fixing leaks. By that we mean that we have a detailed process for finding leaks, assessing the damage, stopping the leak, repairing the problem so it does not happen again, and then remediating the damage already done in your home or building.

In today’s blog article, we are going to briefly outline the steps in our process.

Detective Work

When clients call and say they have a leak, we come over and start investigating. Sometimes the source of the leak is obvious, and sometimes it is not. We ask lots of questions and may have to go through the house from the attic to the basement. Our experience helps us narrow down the possible causes and find the source quickly.

Assessment

We have to assess how easily or quickly the leak can be stopped and figure out what is required. We also communicate to the client what is needed and approximately how long it will take to stop the leak.

Stop the Leak

The next thing is to stop the leak as soon as possible. For a broken pipe, this fix can be immediate. But if the leak is coming from something larger like whole roof that needs replacing, then the fix may take more time.

Repair

Stopping an obvious leak comes first, but in order to prevent further leaks, sometimes a more extensive repair of something is needed. For example, if a home has a leak in PolyB piping, then stopping one leak may not be difficult. But in order to prevent further leaks, all the PolyB in the house should be repiped--which is a bigger job.

Remediation

When the immediate leak is stopped, then we can begin to do the clean-up and remediation. Perhaps there is water that needs to be pumped out or flooring that is soaked and needs to be removed. Wet areas need to be dried before repairs to walls or floors can occur. We can handle all aspects of this work as needed to keep our clients safe and dry.

We can stop your leaks, do the clean-up, execute your restoration, and help with any replumbing needed. This is our area of expertise, and we can diagnose and fix the problem for you. Please call us on the Lower Mainland at (604) 349-5325 if you need help diagnosing or preventing water leaks.
