Dealing With a Flooded Basement From Plumbing to Restoration

If you are dealing with a flooded basement, then you probably have a big headache on your hands. You will be relieved to know that there is a company, 604FixLeak on the Lower Mainland, that can help you with all phases of this particular disaster from plumbing to restoration.

In today’s blog article, we would like to talk about what is involved in managing a flooded basement, in broad strokes.

Identify the Leak and Stop It

The first part is identifying what is leaking and stop the leak. The damage control cannot begin until water stops coming in. Water may be coming from a leaking PolyB pipe, or a bad water line to your refrigerator. Or maybe your roof is leaking or the drainage tile around the perimeter of your house was not installed correctly.

Start Clean Up

So, first, the leak has to be stopped. Once the leak stops, which usually requires a plumber, then you can start with the damage control. Water has to be pumped out—if needed—or mopped up. Furniture and built-ins that are damaged have to be moved out. Carpets have to be removed.

Repair What Caused the Leak

While damage control continues, which may include adding fans, heaters and/or dehumidifiers to the affected area, repair is needed so the leak does not return. Ever. Perhaps you need your polyB piping repiped or you need a new roof or you need new drainage tile around the house.

Rebuild

Once the leak has been stopped, clean-up has finished, and the cause of the leak is repaired, then you can rebuild the areas affected. You may need new drywall, flooring and/or build-ins. Damage can be extensive and several tradespersons will be needed.

Fortunately, as we said at the beginning, we handle all the phases of the problems described above. We can stop your leaks, do the clean-up, execute your restoration, and help with any replumbing needed. This is our area of expertise, and we can diagnose and fix the problem for you. Please call us on the Lower Mainland at (604) 349-5325 if you are experiencing a basement flood.
